Measurement Trolley
Around 1900
With the help of the measurement trolley, one could accurately measure the slope of the track and variations in track gauge. The upper scale indicates the slope, and the lower one indicates the track gauge.
The trolley was manually operated along the track (presumably by a lower-ranking official), while the trackmaster or track engineer authoritatively read and recorded the values in their notebook.
The measurement trolley was manufactured by Camozzi & Schloesser in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and was purchased by Bergslagernas Järnvägar around the turn of the century.
It is on loan from the Swedish Railway Museum in Gävle.
