Overhead Line
The locomotive's electric motors are supplied with power via the overhead line that runs over the track. The locomotive connects to the line through the pantograph, which is mounted on the roof.
The overhead line, made of copper, consists of contact wire with a messenger wire and supporting wires. To ensure that the locomotive's pantograph can maintain contact with the contact wire at all times while the train is in motion, it should not hang down between the poles. Therefore, the contact wire is supported by the messenger wire and supporting wires.
The overhead line is suspended from poles approximately 60 metres apart and is mounted in a zigzag pattern between the poles, distributing wear evenly across the entire width of the pantograph. The voltage in the line is 16,000 volts.
