The Ore Line
The model represents a part of an ore train on the 500-kilometer long Malmbanan (Ore Line) between Riksgränsen and Boden.
In the 1910s, the maximum capacity had been reached on the non-electrified Malmbanan. Through electrification and the utilization of local hydropower, the transport capacity of the railway was tripled. Malmbanan was the first long railway in Sweden to be electrified. The section Kiruna–Riksgränsen was electrified between 1910 and 1915, and the entire railway was electrified by 1923.
Malmbanan is Sweden's most heavily trafficked railway with train weights up to 8600 tons. It is also the world's northernmost electrified railway.
